Present: Commissioner Pollock,Commissioner Swope
Recorder: Rieva Lester
Commissioner Pollock called the meeting to order at 10 a.m., determined a quorum and then proceeded
with the flag salute.
PUBLIC COMMENT
None.
PRESENTATION
Commissioner Swope made a motion to approve a proclamation recognizing the Great Washington
Shake Out at 10:21 a.m. October 21, 2021. Commissioner Pollock seconded.

Emergency Management Planner Erika Katt read the proclamation into the record. She invited citizens
and businesses to participate in the earthquake drill.
Motion passed 2-0.
CONSENT ITEMS
Commissioner Swope made a motion to approve minutes from the October 12,2021, Business Meeting
as well as Resolution 21-369. Commissioner Pollock seconded.
Resolution 21-369:Approval of warrants/claims against the various county departments.
Chief accountant Grace Jimenez, representing the Auditor's Office, said warrants 847,352 through
847,626 and direct disbursements numbered 3891, 3893 through 3897, 3909, 3916 through 3929, 3937,
3947 through 3950, 3973, 4016,4019,4002 through 4005,4011 and 4024 through 4025 were issued in

October for payments against the county totaling$3,583,563.10.She said payroll/tax deposit warrants
numbered 795,860 through 795,864 and Automatic Deposits numbered 31,532 through 32,120 also
were approved for payments against the county totaling$1,121,428.51.Grace noted a skip in sequence
for warrants 847,330-847,351,which were issued on behalf of Special Purpose Districts.
Motion passed 2-0.
DELIBERATION ITEMS
Commissioner Swope made a motion to approve Resolutions 21-370 and 21-371. Commissioner
Pollock seconded.
Resolution 21-370:Approve a Personal Services Agreement between Lewis County and Robert K.
Weidner.
County Manager Erik Martin discussed the resolution. He said Robert Weidner lobbies on behalf of
Lewis County to secure federal Payment in Lieu of Taxes and Secure Rural Schools funding.
Resolution 21-371: Designate Lewis County Representatives on the Washington Counties Risk Pool.
HR/Risk Director Chris Panush discussed the resolution.Chris said the resolution designates Lewis
County's representatives on the board.
Motion passed 2-0.
COVI D-19
Erik Martin said the county will release its full weekly COVID-19 report Oct. 20.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Ron Averill said the Republican Party chair has received six applications for the county commissioner
vacancy and that the group plans to interview the applicants Oct. 26. He said the following individuals
applied:

Peter Lahmann invited the public to attend a memorial service from 1 to 2 p.m. Nov. 1 at the Chehalis
Pioneer Cemetery to honor eight area girls killed in an explosion at a dynamite company 110 years ago.
Erik Marin said the annual flood meeting the following week at the Jester Auto Museum.
Erik invited the public to attend the Oct. 28 memorial service for Commissioner Stamper.
