Swope, Vice Chair •° CE °: • : vg45 " •.�y :!Yco" �S GO: Rieva Lester '�y'NoroN;:•' Rieva Lester, Vacant, Commissioner Clerk of the Lewis County Board of County Commissioners Page 1 of 1 RECOGNIZING NOVEMBER 11, 2021, AS LEWISVETERANS DAY COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WHEREAS,the greatest acknowledgement of our freedom is to honor our armed forces veterans,who have sacrificed—and in many instances paid the ultimate price—for our freedom; and WHEREAS, Lewis County recognizes and respects the more than 7,700 veterans in Lewis County for their many contributions; and WHEREAS,we, along with millions of other Americans, can attest to the importance of their sacrifices and contributions for our freedom and security; and WHEREAS, Lewis County realizes that many veterans who gave so much of themselves came home without any recognition and were denied educational and occupational opportunities; and WHEREAS,the men and women of our armed forces continue to be an inspiration to all of us through their demonstration of courage, leadership and commitment in service to our community and country;and WHEREAS, Congress voted in 1975 to make November 11 Veterans Day in honor of our veterans, living and dead,who served in the armed forces; and WHEREAS,we in Lewis County will always remember and pay homage to the members of our military community, both active and inactive,for their contribution,dedication and commitment to our freedom. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Lewis County proudly joins the rest of our nation in observance of Veterans Day on Thursday, November 11,2021,to salute and give special honor and recognition to the men and women in our armed forces.
