LEWIS COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
WHEREAS, home care services provide high-quality and compassionate health
care to more than five million Americans annually,especially in times of I I()\I I', ( .1R1. L:
community or personal health care crisis; and [IO,l'I( h: mO\'hl l
WHEREAS, most Americans want to age in place, and home care services allow
the disabled, elderly and chronically ill to live independently in their own
homes as long as they possibly can, helping families stay together and
providing for greater health,dignity and comfort in our communities;and
WHEREAS, home care is a growing alternative to hospitalization or other t,
institution-based forms of health care for acute and chronic illnesses; and
WHEREAS,everyday heroes—including home care nurses,therapists and aides—travel extensively and
work tirelessly to provide professional support to millions of Americans in need of quality care; and
WHEREAS,these dedicated home care professionals and volunteers form a support network that plays a
vital role in health care delivery for our nation's disabled, infirm and aging population; and
WHEREAS,the National Association for Home Care&Hospice and home care agencies across the U.S. have
declared the month of November as National Home Care&Hospice Month to celebrate these heroes and to
call attention to the important role they play.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Lewis County Board of County Commissioners does hereby
proclaim November as National Home Care&Hospice Month and encourages all citizens to learn about and
celebrate the concepts of home care and hospice care for the elderly,disabled and infirm.
