Coroner Warren McLeod provided the following updates:
• Deaths: 883 total cases year-to-date for 2021 in comparison to 873 total cases for 2020 and 810
total cases for 2019.
• Homicides: 1
• Suicides: 11 - 3 of which were under the age of 18 and 3 persons committed suicide in one week
during the month of November.
• Accidental deaths: 37
• Undetermined: 8
• Pending: 4
Meth has continued to be the main cause of drug-related deaths.
Warren said he has four people testing for certification. Warren said Lewis County’s Coroner’s Office is
seeking re-accreditation and will be reviewed by IAC & ME auditors.
