Tourism promotion consultant selection: Steve Wohld said the county issued an RFP for a tourism promotion consultant the first week of July. He said the county received one proposal, with the Economic Alliance as the lone applicant. He said Economic Alliance wants a backstop to ensure it can be funded if it cannot secure lodging tax funding. Commissioner Grose said he believes that the county can award lodging tax funds without going through the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee. He noted that he had not yet reached out to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office regarding the legality. The group opted to ask the PA’s Office to review the law. The commissioners also discussed the possibility of using General Fund dollars. Steve said he would reach out to Robert Bradley for clarification. Rieva Lester said she would add the topic to the following day’s PA Update and the Aug. 3 Directors’ Update. Calendars: Commissioner Grose said he will go on a tour with Sens. Murray and Cantwell later in the week. Commissioner Swope said he will attend a PacMtn. meeting later in the day. Correspondence: The commissioners discussed an email received regarding a citizen’s concerns regarding a proposed homeless shelter. Minute folder: Commissioner Grose made a motion to approve the minute folder for the week of July 11, 2022. Announcements: Commissioner Pollock said she attended a CRAB meeting the previous week. She said the group approved funding for ferry work in Cathlamet. Connie Riker said a temporary solution has been worked out for a solution to the cattle feeding stations at the fairgrounds. She also noted that Parks and Rec has received a grant to help with GarlicFest. Becky Butler said the U.S. Treasury has opened the portal for some of the ARPA funding. Meeting ended at 9:25 a.m.
