Agenda updates: Commissioner Swope made a motion to add to the Aug. 16 Business Meeting agenda
the following:
• Resolution 22-246: Ratify a contract awarded to Plus 1 Productions to produce a performance
rodeo at the 2022 Southwest Washington Fair.
• Resolution 22-247: Ratify a contract awarded to WillyGoat LLC to provide and install playground
equipment at the various Lewis County parks.
Commissioner Grose seconded. Motion passed 3-0.
Citizens Budget Committee: Citizens Budget Committee members Jerry Villarreal, Paul Crowner, Tim
Wood, Harry Bhagwandin and Rey Rodriguez introduced themselves.
County fair: Commissioner Swope said he has asked the PA’s Office to review whether the county could
allow free entry to the fair for county employees. Amber Smith said the county could create a policy to
allow for it.
Clean Buildings Act letter: Doug Carey said the Capital Facilities Committee has requested that the
commissioners send a letter addressing the costs associated with recently passed legislation that
requires certain energy improvements. The group discussed potential updates to the draft letter and
said they would return to the topic Aug. 22.
Advisory group for contracts regarding homeless support: Commissioner Swope discussed creating an
ad hoc group to review contracts for homeless support. Amber Smith suggested the commissioners
create the group via resolution. Commissioner Swope directed Meja Handlen to work on the creation of
the group. The group discussed what would be expected of the group and who would be asked to serve
on the group. Commissioner Swope said he would work with Meja and Amber to draft a proposed
resolution by the following week.
Packwood corridor plan: Mindy Brooks said she has reached out to WSDOT regarding plans for the
Packwood corridor, including reduced speed limits, improved parking, etc. She said WSDOT suggested
the county look at a planning grant that would require a 20 percent match.
Calendars: The commissioners discussed their calendars.
Minute folder: Commissioner Grose made a motion to approve the minute folders for the week of July
18, 2022. Commissioner Swope seconded. Motion passed 3-0.
