Agenda changes: Commissioner Swope made a motion – and Commissioner Grose seconded – to add to the Aug. 30, 2022, BOCC Business Meeting the following resolutions: • Resolution 22-274: Approve contract #R01-0173-22 between Reliable Enterprises and Lewis County Public Health and Social Services. Meja Handlen said the agreement extends the contract through Oct. 31, 2022. • Resolution 22-275: Approve contract H02-0175-22 between Housing Resource Center and Lewis County Public Health and Social Services. Meja said the agreement extends the contract through Oct. 31, 2022. • Resolution 22-276: Approve Amendment B to Contract HRCES2023 between Housing Resource Center and Lewis County Public Health and Social Services. Meja said the agreement extends the contract through Oct. 31, 2022. • Resolution 22-277: Approve Amendment A to Contract #GatherShelterCM with Gather Church. Meja said Gather Church has indicated it is not interested in extending the contract beyond Aug. 31, 2022. • Resolution 22-278: Approve Amendment A to contract G03-0112-22 between Gather Church and Lewis County Public Health and Social Services. Meja said Gather Church has indicated it is not interested in extending the contract beyond Oct. 31, 2022. • Resolution 22-279: Approve Amendment A in the amount of $311,342.64 to contract H02-0141- 21 between Housing Resource Center and Lewis County Public Health and Social Services. Meja said the agreement extends the contract through Oct. 31, 2022. The group further discussed the contracts and the efforts surrounding Commissioner Swope discussed his recent meeting with the Housing Resource Center, which he said is supportive of efforts to improve resources, implement guidelines and instill metrics for the homeless. Motion passed 3-0. Clean Buildings Act letter: The commissioners agreed to sign the letter. Water Conservancy Board vacancies: The commissioners said they would revisit the topic Aug. 31. Lobbying consultant: Commissioner Grose made a motion to hire Honeywell as the county’s lobbyist. Commissioner Swope seconded. Motion passed 3-0. 2023 Budget Planning: Becky Butler said the county in 2021 signed a five-year contract for its body cameras. The commissioners said they would like the contract simply noted on the Sheriff’s budget documentation. Code compliance casual position clarification: Meja said she is seeking permission to hire outside the pay grade. She noted that the position also would be eligible for benefits if it lasts longer than six months, pushing the total cost of the position would be $49,000, not $39,000. Commissioner Swope noted that the county is responsible for code compliance in the UGAs. Daleyn Coleman and Meja discussed the possibility of requesting a new permanent position as part of the budget process. The commissioners said they support the request, which is set to go before them as a resolution Sept. 6. Calendars: Commissioner Grose noted he would be out of the office Sept. 6. Commissioner Pollock said she would attend the fair meeting later in the day. The commissioners said they’d like to have a Wrap- Up meeting Sept. 6. Correspondence: The commissioners discussed an email they received regarding a Firewise grant. Meeting ended at 9:35 a.m.
