Public comment: None.
Agenda changes: Commissioner Swope made a motion to add to the Oct. 4, 2022, Business Meeting the
following:
Resolution 22-318: Authorize application for the Federal Reconnecting Community Grant from the US
Department of Transportation, commit local matching funds and assign the Director of Community
Development as the Authorized Representative.
Commissioner Grose seconded.
Mindy Brooks, Lee Napier and Erik Martin discussed the grant.
Motion passed 3-0.
Long-range strategic planning: Commissioner Pollock noted the discussion would be delayed.
Blakeslee Junction: Erik Martin discussed coordination with the state to restore and clean up the
Centralia homeless encampment. The group discussed how to address cleanup of neighboring
properties that are privately owned and how to find long-term transitional housing for the individuals
staying at Blakeslee Junction.
Forested state trust lands / carbon credits: Erik said the group would discuss state trust lands and
carbon credits the following day.
Local Assistance and Tribal Consistency Fund allocation: Becky Butler said the U.S. Treasury alerted the
county that Lewis County will receive $1.5 million from Local Assistance and Tribal Consistency Fund
over the next two years.
Timberland Regional Library Trustee: The commissioners said they would support reappointing Brian
Zylstra to the TRL.
Calendars: The commissioners said they would like to clear the schedule for Oct. 24 to allow the
commissioners to attend the upcoming hydrogen event.
Minute folders: Commissioner Swope made a motion to approve minute folders for the weeks of Sept.
5, Sept. 12 and Sept. 19, 2022. Commissioner Grose seconded. Motion passed 3-0.
County Manager items
Erik Martin noted he will further discuss strategic planning the following week. He noted he will be out
of the office most of the rest of the week.
