2022-10-11 Directors UpdateDirectors’ Update October 11, 2022 11 a.m. Present: Commissioner Pollock, Commissioner Swope, Commissioner Grose, County Manager Erik Martin, Steve Wohld, Lee Napier, Mindy Brooks, Amber Smith, Doug Carey, Matt Jaeger, Nic Scott, Daleyn Coleman, John Clark, Becky Butler Guest(s): Several unnamed guests Recorder: Rieva Lester Commissioner Pollock announced that public comment regarding proposed Ordinance 1337 would not be taken during this meeting. She said those wishing to speak for or against the quasi-judicial matters included in Ordinance 1337 will have an opportunity to do so as part of the upcoming hearing. Public comment: None. Mindy Brooks discussed a notice of a public hearing to consider Ordinance 1337 to amend the Lewis County Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Designations. Mindy said the hearing would take place over two days: Nov. 1 and Nov. 8, 2022. John Clark discussed a resolution to award contract for fire and security system at 57 W Main project. Matt Jaeger discussed the declaration of surplus personal property. Commissioner Swope made a motion to move one notice item, two consent items and two deliberation items to the Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2022, BOCC agenda. Commissioner Grose seconded the motion. Motion passed 3-0. New business Daleyn Coleman said an Aflac representative will be on site the following week. She also reminded the group that employee recognition will take place Oct. 18. Becky Butler discussed an upcoming budget amendment. Wednesday Workshop on a Tuesday Mindy Brooks provided an overview of proposed Ordinance 1337 and Comprehensive Plan map amendments. The commissioners said they would hold an all-day hearing on proposed Ordinance 1337 on Nov. 1, recess at 5 p.m. that day and allow oral testimony to continue Nov. 2 if necessary. They said they would close the record for written testimony Nov. 4 and deliberate on the proposed ordinance Nov. 8. Commissioner Pollock noted that employee recognition for third-quarter milestones will be held Oct. 18. Commissioner Swope noted that the Salvation Army will give a presentation on Oct. 18 to discuss the night-by-night shelter and ERAP. Correspondence Commissioner Pollock discussed a letter John Clark had drafted to send to PSE regarding its recent gas testing, which prompted evacuations. Meeting adjourned at 11:59 a.m.
