NATURE OF WORK
Under general direction, manages the administrative operations of the Lewis County District Court as assigned and
provides back up support to the District Court Administrator; oversees and assists in the supervision of assigned
personnel.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.
Manages and directs the District Court’s day-to-day administrative operations including case flow
management, records management, contract administration, accounting, and purchasing.
Assists, interprets, and enforces the Court’s administrative policies and procedures; recommends
implementation of changes necessary to maintain regulatory compliance.
Provides guidance and support in organizational structure and development; works with court
administrator in defining organizational structure and roles of positions; monitors work flow; assists in
determining work schedules and reviewing staffing level needs.
Supervises, trains, and evaluates the performance of assigned personnel; monitors staff for compliance
with departmental policies and procedures.
Plans, assigns, and reviews the quality of work performed by staff.
Develops and manages operation manuals; monitors, researches, interprets and implements
administrative policy and procedural changes in response to legislative laws; interprets, applies and
integrates administrative and procedural requirements of various local, state and federal agencies as they
apply to the office.
Assists in the direction and coordination of the Court’s case flow and records management functions.
Assists in the management the Court’s accounting and financial activities; oversees the collection of Court
fines, fees, and bail payments; reviews audit reports; reconciles bank statements; administers contracts.
Prepares and maintains a variety of departmental records, reports, and documentation.
Works closely with county IT Department to plan and coordinate requests for i nformation technology
services including internal electronic document creation, video systems and reco rding equipment.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is performed in a standard office environment; subject to sitting for extended periods of time, standing,
walking, bending, reaching, and lifting of objects up to 20 pounds.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:
Associate’s Degree in a related field of study, including but not limited to public administration, court
administration, business administration, criminal justice, or human resources; AND t wo (2) years’ experience
assisting in the court system administrative operations.
A valid Driver’s License is required.
Must be bondable.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Knowledge of:
County policies and procedures.
District Court operations, policies, and procedures.
Judicial processes and procedures.
The District and Municipal Court Information System (JIS).
State of Washington laws and court rules that govern policies and procedures in district courts.
Regulations and standards governing court administrative operations.
Supervisory principles, practices, and methods.
Skills in:
Assisting in the managing and coordinating the District Court’s administrative operations.
Assisting in the developing, implementing, administering, and reviewing departmental policies and
procedures.
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, court personnel, litigants, outside
agencies, community groups, and the general public.
Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
Supervising, leading, and delegating tasks and authority.
