Warren McLeod introduced Stephen Wilson as his new Chief Deputy Coroner. Stephen is American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators (ABMDI) certified. Warren said 2022 had 950 cases including: • 3 homicides • 16 suicides • 51 accidental deaths • 7 undetermined deaths with 3 cases pending • 31 drug overdoses with 3 cases pending. Warren said the total deaths for 2022 will change pending death certificates that have yet to be issued for deaths in 2022. Warren said meth has been the main cause of drug-related deaths, but that he has seen an increase in fentanyl-related deaths. Warren said the Coroner’s Office is waiting for the site audit report. This renews accreditation for the office. All fulltime employees must be accredited with ABMDI. Warren said his office receives reimbursement for autopsies based on this international accreditation.
