Shawn Kyes discussed a notice of hearing regarding an Order of Establishment of a newly constructed road (Ghosn Lane). Commissioner Pollock made a motion to move one notice item and two consent items to the Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2023, BOCC agenda. Commissioner Brummer seconded. Motion passed 3-0. Announcements Meja Handlen praised the community’s efforts to adopt from the animal shelter. Becky Butler said the call letter for the 2024 budget will go out the following week. She outlined parameters the commissioners have established for budgeting. Alex Murray said Facilities has launched its new Brightly system to track help tickets. Wednesday Workshop Housing and Essential Needs (HEN) and Aged, Blind or Disabled (ABD) assistance programs: Rebecca Stafford, Yvonne Rivera and Meja Handlen provided an overview of the HEN and ABD assistance programs. Proposed Ordinance 1347, which would repeal and replace Chapter 8.60 to prohibit unauthorized camping and parking on county property and make a violation thereof a misdemeanor: The commissioners discussed a recent letter Police Chief Stacy Denham shared with Centralia. They discussed potential changes to the proposed ordinance, including the potential for storage of abandoned vehicles. Meeting adjourned at 10:37 a.m.
