At 9 a.m., Commissioner Swope announced that the Board would be going into execu�ve session under
RCW 42.30.110(1)(i) un�l 9:30 a.m. to discuss the following:
• Swigert Road
• Vader water
• Mountain View Cemetery
• Evers li�ga�on
• Non-disclosure agreements (NDAs)
At 9:30 a.m., Commissioner Swope extended execu�ve session un�l 9:40 a.m.
Execu�ve session ended at 9:40 a.m. Commissioner Swope noted that no decisions had been made.
WSAC vacancies: Commissioner Swope and Rieva Lester reminded the commissioners that applica�ons
for vacancies on WSAC’s statewide boards are due Nov. 2.
2024 budget follow-up: Becky Butler said Parks and Rec will review its budget later in the day, fee
schedule will be Nov. 6, the Coroner’s Office has provided informa�on about transport, costs for opioid
deaths and whether opioid setlement can be used. Auditor / Treasurer later in the day.
2023 budget amendment: Becky said the upcoming amendment currently is for $3.3 million.
Secure Rural Schools: Commissioner Pollock discussed her recent trip to Washington, D.C., to address
Secure Rural Schools funding.
County Manager contract renego�a�on authority: Ryan Barret said an employee has asked to
renego�ate the terms of their contract. The commissioners directed Ryan Barret to renego�ate the
terms of the individual’s contract.
Thank you leter for Planning Commission member: The commissioners agreed to sign a thank you
leter to Kathy Chastain.
Salary Commission: Rieva Lester said the appointments for the Salary Commission have lapsed. The
commissioners directed staff to reach out to the appointees to see if they’d be interested in serving
again.
Planning Commission vacancy: Commissioner Pollock said she feels Jeff Skutley has applied for the
posi�on. The commissioners directed staff to prepare a resolu�on to appoint Jeff to the Planning
Commission.
Lewis-Mason-Thurston Area Agency on Aging (LMTAAA) vacancy: Rieva Lester said the county received
two applica�ons. The commissioners said they would like to review the applica�ons Nov. 1.
