Budget: Becky Butler reminded offices and departments to look for cost-saving measures as the county
prepares its preliminary budget for 2024.

Arny Davis and Ross Nielson discussed work being done in preparation for levies and taxes.
DIRECTORS’ UPDATE
Geoff Soderquist discussed a Notice of Public Hearing for the proposed 2024 Annual Construction
Program (ACP) and Six-Year Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) for the years 2024-2029.
Caroline Garibay discussed a resolution to approve Contract #K7096 between the Washington State
Health Care Authority (HCA) and Lewis County.
Matt Jaeger discussed a resolution regarding the declaration of surplus personal property.
HELD discussed a resolution to appoint Geoff Soderquist, PE, as County Engineer.
PLEASE NOTE: There will be no Business Meeting on Halloween as it's the fifth Tuesday in the month.
(The Oct. 25 Directors' Update also is therefore canceled.)
Commissioner Brummer made a motion to move one notice item, two consent items and two
deliberation items to the Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2023, BOCC agenda. Commissioner Pollock seconded.
Motion passed 3-0.
Steve Wohld discussed updates to the county’s security camera systems.
Doug Carey said Motor Pool-area sidewalks will be poured Oct. 18.
Becky Butler discussed upcoming budget meetings and amendments. Ross Nielson praised staff efforts
to prevent a cemetery from slipping into foreclosure.
