Public comment: None.
Becky Butler discussed a legal notice regarding Lewis County 2023 budget emergency and supplemental
appropriations to and transfers within current expense and various funds.
Becky Butler discussed a legal notice regarding the Lewis County preliminary budget for 2024.
BJ Kuykendall discussed a resolution to accept a $250,000 ARPA grant from the City of Centralia for
water systems upgrades at the Southwest Washington (SWW) Fairgrounds.
Josh Metcalf discussed a resolution to authorize the Chair of the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC)
to sign a Local Agency Agreement and Federal Aid Project Prospectus with WSDOT for the Berwick Creek
at Labree Fish Passage (MP 0.459), County Maintenance Project (CMP) 2001.
Josh Metcalf discussed a resolution to approve a Local Agency Agreement and Federal Aid Project
Prospectus between Lewis County and Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) for
the 2023 County Safety Program – County Road Project (CRP) 2205.
Commissioner Pollock discussed proposed Ordinance 1349: Prohibit interference with a firefighter or
emergency responder and make a violation thereof a gross misdemeanor.
A member of the public asked the commissioners what prompted the need for the ordinance.
Commissioner Brummer made a motion to move two notice items, two consent items, three
deliberation items and one hearing to the Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2023, BOCC agenda. Commissioner Pollock
seconded. Motion passed 3-0.
Commissioner Swope provided the following updates:
• The Oct. 18 ESC / Directors' Update has been moved to 11 a.m. Oct. 17.
• There will be no Business Meeting on Halloween as it's the fifth Tuesday in the month. (The Oct.
25 Directors' Update also is therefore canceled.
Steve Wohld said Janelle Lindsey will leave after the end of the month.
Mindy Brooks said the county received Comprehensive Plan proposals from three entities.
Jenn Libby Jones said she will be at training the week of Oct. 16.
Josh Metcalf said the UAW strike is affecting the availability of parts and equipment.
Amber Smith invited the group to a records retention workshop on Oct. 13. Amber said she will attend
Risk training the following week.
Doug Carey provided time updates on the Community Development building.
