2023-09-20 Shelter UpdateShelter Update September 20, 2023 10:43 a.m. Present: Commissioner Brummer, Commissioner Pollock, County Manager Ryan Barrett, Justia Madrigal, John Abplanalp, Robert Bradley, David Bailey, Amber Smith, Detective Jamey McGinty, Deputy Gabe Frase, Commissioner Swope (10:52 a.m.), Nic Scott (10:58 a.m.) Guest(s): None Recorder: Rieva Lester Public comment: None Commissioner Brummer said the BOCC is looking at how to best address a policy regarding registered sex offenders requesting to use the night by night shelter. Eric Eisenberg said the night-by-night shelter does not have the certification to accept unaccompanied minors. He said the shelter is designed with a line-of-sight floorplan. Commissioner Swope joined at 10:52 a.m. Det. Jamey McGinty said transient sex offenders must contact his office weekly to identify where they stayed the previous week. He said flyers identifying transient sex offenders are available for review. Commissioner Swope said he wants the shelter to be able to provide services for unaccompanied minors. Nic Scott joined at 10:58 a.m. The group discussed the need for accountability for those using the services. Eric said he will reach out to The Salvation Army regarding registered sex offenders. Meeting adjourned at 11:21 a.m.
