Wrap-Up items
Agenda change: Commissioner Pollock made a mo�on to add to the agenda a request for a leter of
support for a Discover Lewis County grant. Commissioner Swope seconded. Mo�on passed 3-0.
Discover Lewis County grant leter of support: Lenee Langdon and Todd Chaput discussed Discover
Lewis County’s The commissioners agreed to sign the leter of support.
Fair board bylaws: Commissioner Brummer said the Fair Board has requested the county revamp the fair
board’s bylaws. Edna Fund discussed the bylaw changes that took place in 2022.
Flood Control District 2 (Centralia) vacancies: Rieva Lester said the individuals who had applied for
Flood Control District 2 do not own property within the district’s boundaries. The commissioners
discussed the district’s future and outreach regarding the vacancies.
Minute folders: Commissioner Pollock made a mo�on to approve minute folders for the weeks of Sept.
11 and Dec. 25, 2023. Commissioner Swope seconded. Mo�on passed 3-0.
Change-order reviews: Doug Carey reviewed two change orders for the Community Development
building. Doug said both were code compliance-related: $9,600 for a vapor barrier and $20,280 for a
vapor barrier for the ceiling and roof.
Interim shelter construc�on update: Alex Murray said his crews are working five 10-hour shi�s to
complete floor grinding and other work.
Legisla�ve update (9:30 a.m.): Josh Weiss and Troy Nichols reviewed bills and budget proposals under
considera�on, including:
• Ini�a�ve 2111, which would prohibit the state or local jurisdic�ons from enac�ng a personal
income tax.
• Ini�a�ve 2081, which would provide parents with a right to review educa�onal materials,
receive certain no�fica�ons, and opt out of sexual health educa�on.
• Ini�a�ve 2113, which would change the state’s vehicular pursuit law to allow an officer to
engage in a pursuit if there is reasonable suspicion to believe the person has violated the law.
Josh Weiss said Sen. Braun has worked hard to move the county’s transporta�on request forward and
Rep. Orcut has worked hard to move the county’s equestrian project forward.
