SAO presentation regarding fiscal year 2023 Accountability audit:
Lisa Carrell shared the results from the most recent audit. Lisa said the audit provides increased trust in
government, improves efficiency and the effectiveness of government.
Melissa Dixon said the audit was for January 1, 2023, through December 31, 2023. Melissa said a risk-
based audit approach was used for the use of restricted funds, payroll, accounts payable, Lewis County
Sheriff’s Office, District Court, open public meetings, and the review of financial condition.
Melissa said the previous corrective actions needed for the Jail have been taken care of and marked as
fully corrected.
Lisa said the current audit stayed within budget and the next audit accountability audit will begin the
summer of 2025.
Grace Jimenez said this audit was a smooth and easy process.
