Public comment: None.
Agenda change: Commissioner Pollock made a motion to add to the July 1, 2025, BOCC Business
Meeting agenda Resolution 25-188: Appoint Wesley Anderson, PE, as County Engineer for Lewis County.
Commissioner Swope seconded. Motion passed 3-0.
Request to reclassify Juvenile Office Manager position: Shad Hail requested the position be reclassified
from a 124 to a 125, in line with the Public Health and Social Services office manager position. Shad
noted the change would cause a roughly $5,000 change, which his budget could absorb.
Commissioner Pollock made a motion to reclassify the Juvenile Office Manager position from a 124 to
a 125 retroactive to June 16, 2025. Commissioner Swope seconded. Motion passed 3-0.
Executive session: At 9:08 a.m., Commissioner Brummer announced that the Board would be going into
executive session under RCW 42.30.110(1)(i) until 9:34 a.m. to discuss the five following topics:
• Nelson litigation
• Estrada tort claim
• Hornburg litigation
• Fairgrounds fireworks
• Berwick Creek Labree Road fish passage culvert replacement project
Executive session ended at 9:34 a.m. Commissioner Brummer noted that no decisions had been made.
Facilities maintenance services: Becky Butler said the topic will be discussed the following week.
South County Park fireworks: Becky Butler said the proposed vendor did not submit their application
2025 budget amendment: Becky Butler discussed the upcoming budget amendment. Becky said she will
provide budget contingency plans for a meeting later in the week.
Annual burn ban (proposed Resolution 25-180): Commissioner Pollock noted that Cowlitz County’s
annual ban takes effect July 15 and that one of the local fire departments straddles both counties.
Commissioner Pollock made a motion to add Resolution 25-189 to the agenda for the July 1 BOCC
Business Meeting, establishing an annual burn ban. They directed staff to change Resolution 25-180 to
reflect burn restrictions effective July 1, 2025.
AED: The commissioners directed Becky Butler to order an AED for the second floor of the Historic
Courthouse if she is able to find budget capacity in the Budget or BOCC budgets.
Fair week schedule: The commissioners directed staff to cancel meetings, including the Business
Meeting, during Fair week.
Approval of minute folders: Commissioner Pollock made a motion to approve minute folders for the
weeks of April 21 and 28, 2025. Commissioner Swope seconded. Motion passed 3-0.
