Executive session: At 9 a.m., Commissioner Brummer announced that the Board would be going into executive session until 9:21 a.m. to discuss the Kresky building under RCW 42.30.110(1)(c) and the following topics under RCW 42.30.110(1)(i): • Coroner / pepper spray • Mulford Road • Restorical Research – Centralia landfill mediation • Bratton tort claim • Estrada tort claim • Estate of Aaron Christensen claim At 9:21 a.m., Commissioner Brummer extended executive session until 9:31 a.m. At 9:31 a.m., Commissioner Brummer extended executive session until 9:36 a.m. At 9:36 a.m., Commissioner Brummer extended executive session until 9:41 a.m. Executive session ended at 9:41 a.m. Commissioner Brummer noted that no decisions had been made. Commissioner Pollock made a motion to proceed with mediation regarding the Centralia landfill mediation as discussed in executive session. Commissioner Brummer seconded. Motion passed 2-0. Commissioner Pollock made a motion to authorize county staff to proceed with negotiations regarding 2025 Kresky Ave. as discussed in executive session. Commissioner Brummer seconded. Motion passed 2-0. Secure Rural Schools funding: Commissioner Pollock discussed efforts to urge support for Secure Rural Schools funding. The commissioners directed staff to proceed with a letter to Congresswoman Gluesenkamp Perez and to draft an oped for the local newspaper as well as a template area schools could use to contact Gluesenkamp Perez’s office. Cowlitz Tribe request for letter of support re: National Tribal Transportation Facility Inventory (NTTFI) listings: Geoff Soderquist discussed the proposed letter. The commissioners said they would review the request July 16. Budget amendment: Becky Butler discussed changes to the upcoming budget amendment. Public defense meeting agenda: Becky discussed the upcoming meeting regarding public defense. Supreme Court Rule: Becky discussed changes to arraignment timelines, which will shorten the window during which public defenders meet with their clients. 2026 Budget Committee members: Becky said Usha Brooks, Tim Wood and Bill Serrahn would like to continue. Calendars: The commissioners discussed presentations planned for the Aug. 5 BOCC Business Meeting. They said they would like to postpone the Office of the Chehalis Basin presentation.
