Recorder: Karri Muir Commissioner Fund let the group know that she will be the 2016 Chair of the ESC. Homeless Connect-Danette York Danette reported that the annual Homeless Connect is going to be Thursday, January 28th at the Lewis County Fairgrounds, this is an all-day event. There will be a hygiene drive for the event. A notice will go out later this week to let employees know. Danette reported the Thorbeckes Health Fair has been changed to February 22nd. The December 2016 ESC minutes were approved. Commissioner Fund went over the new personnel changes and let the group know that the Commissioners appreciated the work done by Michael Strozyk and Craig Larson. Steve Walton is the new interim Central Services Director. He introduced Dave Anderson as the new interim 911 Manager and gave a brief background of Mr. Anderson. Dave gave a brief update on the new direction that the 911 Center will be taking. Steve Walton reported that as of January 19, Gale Sobolesky will no longer be the Fair Manager. Holli introduced Shad Hill as her replacement. Shad gave his background information. Commissioner Fund discussed 2016 being the year of the team. Jonathan Meyer noted that a team has been selected to speak at a summit on our Mental Health model. Sheriff Snaza discussed the mental health population in the jail. They are working on innovative ideas to take care of this population in the jail. Good of the Order Steve Mansfield discussed Code Red notification. The contract expires at the end of this year. He has been looking at a different system. If there are any suggestions on a community notification system, please let him know. Commissioner Stamper received a phone call from a citizen and they wanted him to thank the Sheriff’s Office, Public Works and the other departments for their assistance during the recent flooding events. Commissioner Schulte joined the meeting at 8:35 am. Commissioner Fund discussed what is happening in the Legislature this year. Sheriff Snaza discussed the proposed bills on marijuana. There is another push to put a tax on ammo that is purchased. His department is following this legislation. Holli reported on a proposed bill that will change the population requirements for Juvenile Detention centers from 50,000 to 250,000. Sheila Gray reported that January 29th there will be a class on Chocolate. WSU and Discover Lewis County are partnering up to do different classes on tourism and business startup. There is the 4th Tuesday of the month in the WSU Meeting Room from 12-4 pm. Steve Wohld Meeting ended at 8:45 am.
