Executive session: At 9 a.m., Commissioner Brummer announced that the Board would be going into executive session until 9:10 p.m. to discuss the opioid settlement under RCW 42.30.110(1)(i) and the 508 shop under RCW 42.30.110(1)(c). Executive session ended at 9 a.m. Commissioner Brummer noted that no decisions had been made. Commissioner Pollock made a motion to authorize Becky Butler to sign the opioid agreement on behalf of the board as discussed in executive session. Commissioner Swope seconded. Motion passed 3-0. Commissioner Pollock made a motion to authorize Public Works to continue with the assessment regarding the 508 shop as discussed in executive session. Commissioner Swope seconded. Motion passed 3-0. Middlefork water system: Geoff Soderquist said he has reached out to the state health department, the State Auditor’s Office and others to determine whether the county can adjust rates to recapture operating costs, retroactive three to five years, prior to the completion of a rate study. Commissioner Pollock made a motion to direct Geoff Soderquist to proceed with a proposed rate increase for the Middlefork water system by the end of the year. Commissioner Swope seconded. Motion passed 3-0. The commissioners directed Anders Pollman to submit a .09 application for the Vader water system, and they directed staff to collect information about recapturing operating costs for Vader water. Cabot Dow contract / potential budget amendment: Angie Hodge and Becky Butler said HR is requesting an additional $25,000 to expand Cabot Dow’s contract for union negotiations. The commissioners directed staff to move forward with a budget hearing. Committee appointments process: Mindy Brooks discussed a proposed ordinance to streamline committee appointments. 2026 legislative priorities: The commissioners said they would like to add exit 72 to the county’s list of legislative priorities for 2026.
