Public comment: None. Becky Butler provided an up-to-date overview of the preliminary budget. Jake Coppock, Ross Nielson and Becky Butler reviewed changes to banked capacity linked to administrative refunds. Commissioner Brummer joined around 2:24 p.m. Ross Nielson said the Assessor’s Office will try to review documents from special purpose districts to ensure those districts know about the changes to banked capacity linked to administrative refunds. Geoff Soderquist outlined the challenges created by continuous cuts to Roads. Commissioner Pollock suggested either approving the 1 percent increase for Roads or reducing the transfer from Roads to the Sheriff’s Office by $300,000, noting that the Sheriff’s Office budget transfer is roughly $1.5 million. Commissioner Swope and Commissioner Brummer said they are firm about not taking 1 percent for Roads or general. However, Commissioner Brummer said he’d like to have a conversation with the Sheriff’s Office regarding a proposed reduction to the transfer from Roads to the Sheriff’s Office. Becky addressed property tax shifts on the horizon regarding properties in the urban growth area Chehalis is proposing for annexation. Meeting adjourned at 3:05 p.m.
