DEM update: Erika Katt provided the following updates regarding the week’s storm system:
• Contingency plans in place for Packwood shelter, patient transport, food delivery in response to
Highway 12 closures
• Forecast calls for 45-50 mph wind gusts
• All rivers trending 6 inches to a foot higher than expected
• Expecting 8 to 11 inches of rain over a 48-hour period
• All east-side rivers are expected to hit major flood stage multiple times through Dec. 12
Polar Plunge contest: Caroline Garibay and Sara Sons
Liquor Control Board training: The commissioners directed staff to schedule the training.
Legislative liaison contract with Robert Weidner: The commissioners directed staff to move forward
with the contract. They stressed that they would like to identify the county’s federal priorities.
Water Conservancy Board position: The commissioners directed staff to reach out to the member
whose term is expiring to determine whether they wish to continue since they have not yet attended
the mandatory training.
Civil Service Commission vacancy: The commissioners directed staff to advertise the position left vacant
by the untimely death of one of the board members.
Regional Education & Training Center request for $80,000 Distressed Counties (.09) grant: The
commissioners directed staff to move forward with a Dec. 16 resolution awarding the grant funding.
NACo conference (February 2026 in D.C.): Commissioner Swope said he’d like a budget adjustment to
allow both he and Commissioner Pollock attend the conference.
Napavine High School graduation for manufacturing apprentices (6 p.m. Dec. 18): Commissioner
Pollock said she will attend.
