Commissioner Fund joined the meeting at 1:09 p.m.
Commissioner Stamper discussed the Morton senior center building, which is located near Centralia
College East. He asked if the college had ever entertained pursuing the property, including taking over
the meal service.
Dr. Mohrbacher asked if the county owns the building and land outright. The commissioners said yes.
Commissioner Stamper said former Commissioner Schulte had discussed the same concept with Dr.
Mohrbacher’s predecessor.
Dr. Mohrbacher likened the prospect to the college’s recent agreement with the city of Centralia.
The group discussed planning a follow-up meeting to discuss the idea.
Commissioner Stamper left the meeting at 1:19 p.m.
Dr. Mohrbacher discussed a potential agreement with WorkSource.
The group discussed the importance of strengthening the workforce, creating attractive housing
opportunities for potential high-earning employees, and improving transit. Dr. Mohrbacher discussed
the need for student housing.
The group discussed the state Legislature, unfunded mandates, public disclosure requests, and grant
possibilities.
