Legislative Roundtable: The group discussed agenda items, such as unfunded mandates, jail medical,
indigent defense, law library, water rights, and law enforcement training.
Fire Commission Meeting: The group discussed the county’s burn restrictions.
WSAC: The commissioners discussed WSAC’s discussions regarding indigent defense and the Hirst
decision.
Good of the Order: Commissioner Fund said the state Supreme Court has said video arraignment is not
lawful. She said Spokane County’s BOE is reducing property values based on the Hirst decision.
WSAC: The commissioners discussed the upcoming WSAC conference. Commissioner Fund and
Commissioner Jackson said they would like to attend. The group discussed the amount of money left in
the budget for training and travel.
Rachel Hunt joined at 11:57 a.m. and asked the group to keep their eyes open for Toys for Tots storage
for the Marines. She left at 11:58 a.m.
OMB: Commissioner Fund said OMB is having a hard time attracting employees. The group also is trying
to contend with the Hirst decision, she said.
Commissioner Jackson left briefly at 12:07 p.m. and returned at 12:09 p.m.
PAC Mountain recruitment: Commissioner Fund said there are two vacancies. The group discussed
Coreen Moses and John Pullman as possibilities.
PAC Mountain requests: Commissioner Stamper said he would provide the requested information.
Tom Crowson: Commissioner Jackson said a group is asking the county to help pay for a feasibility study
regarding a new facility. The group discussed having Tom Crowson meet with Steve Mansfield or
Commissioner Stamper.
Commissioner Jackson moved and Commissioner Fund seconded naming CJ Neer to the Fair Board.
Motion passed 3-0.
Blue Ribbon Task Force: The group discussed recent media coverage regarding the Blue Ribbon Task
Force.
Erik Martin joined the meeting at 12:32 p.m.
