"Cultivating and Harvesting High Expectations and Excellence"
March 10, 2022
To Lewis County Board of Commissioners:
I am writing in support of keeping Dr. Krager as our local health officer. He has all of the
professional qualifications to hold this position and is a person of high integrity and
professionalism. His leadership during this pandemic has been greatly appreciated by myself
and those school leaders who have met weekly with Dr. Krager.
Like his predecessor, Dr. Krager has met weekly during the pandemic with School
Superintendents, Lewis County Public Health staff, and doctors from Northwest Pediatrics.
Together, with Dr. Krager's guidance, we have been kept informed of changes in protocols
required of schools in order for us to stay open for our students. Dr. Krager continues to work at
the state level, staying abreast of changes from the state department of health. His expertise in
infectious diseases has provided up -to- the - minute information to all of us during his tenure in
the position.
Dr. Krager knows where to get information, how to present it, and if he is unsure, he will
research a question and get back to us in a timely manner. He has been upfront and honest with
all of us when it comes to public health issues. Dr. Krager is a strong advocate for keeping the
citizens of Lewis County informed, especially during this pandemic. His ability to communicate
with schools about changes in protocols during the pandemic helped all of us return to in-
person instruction in our schools. For that, we are all grateful.
His position as a public health official is one that is apolitical. Dr. Krager only deals with the
medical science and all decisions are based on scientific facts, for which he is well- trained in.
Lastly, Dr. Krager truly cares about the welfare and well-being of all Lewis County residents.
His prime objective is to look at the science, the impact that health - related issues have on our
citizens, and to communicate those science -based facts to protect us from harm.
I am asking that you keep Dr. Krager in his current position as our county health officer. He
is knowledgeable, professional, informed, and most importantly, well- respected by his
colleagues. You won't find a better professional medical expert in the field of public health than
im!rintendent
