The group discussed the federal government’s recent shutdown. At this point, the group said, no one
has indicated it has affected Lewis County.
Archie Smith left at 9:05 a.m.
At 9:07 a.m., Commissioner Stamper announced that the Board was going into Executive Session under
RCW 42.30.110(1)(i) for 10 minutes to discuss pending and potential litigation regarding Cortland / Hupy
/ Green.
At 9:17 a.m., the Board extended Executive Session for 5 minutes.
At 9:22 a.m., the Board extended Executive Session for 5 minutes.
At 9:27 a.m., the Board extended Executive Session for 3 minutes.
Executive Session ended at 9:30 a.m. with Commissioner Stamper, Commissioner Fund, Erik Martin, Lara
McRea, Alex Brown and Lindsey Pollock in attendance.
Commissioner Fund made a motion to allow the city of Winlock to amend its scope for $27,000
originally awarded to it for sewer work and to allow Winlock to apply that funding to infrastructure
improvements, including fees for obtaining water rights. Commissioner Stamper seconded. Motion
passed 2-0.
The group discussed bills in the Legislature.
Commissioner Fund made a motion to authorize the chair, Bobby Jackson, to sign the five-year
verification visit form for the Community Rating System. Commissioner Stamper seconded. Motion
passed 2-0.
Commissioner Fund said she attended the Port of Chehalis meeting, during which the group discussed
the possible grain elevator project. She said she also attended the Timberline Regional Library’s meeting
the previous week. She said the group indicated it may reduce hours at its Tenino location.
Erik Martin said Eric Eisenberg will explore mediation for Water Districts 2 and 5. He said a debriefing is
scheduled for later in the day.
Commissioner Fund discussed the East County Chamber’s Summit to Swamp event, which changed from
a two-day event to a one-day event. She said the group may withdraw its lodging tax agreement.
Commissioner Fund said her three goals for the year are flooding, the Great Rivers Behavioral Health
Organization (GRBHO) and unfunded mandates.
Rieva Lester said KACS has offered to run announcements regarding vacancies and that Let’s Talk About
It has extended an invitation to Commissioners Stamper and Fund to appear on their show.
The group discussed Secure Rural Schools and a payment for Robert Weidner.
Rieva noted that there are carpet samples to review.
