March 12, 2019
4:30 p.m.
Present: Commissioner Jackson, Commissioner Stamper, Commissioner Fund, Budget Services Manager
Becky Butler, Coroner Warren McLeod, County Manager Erik Martin (4:43 p.m.)
Guest: Linda Williams
Recorder: Rieva Lester
Warren McLeod discussed factors that led to the need for a 2018 amendment, including greater-than-
anticipated decedent removals, glucose tests, genetic tests and x-rays. He said the changes in line items
in Munis also caused hardship.
He said decedent removals totaled 169 in 2018 and had been budgeted at 144.
Erik Martin joined at 4:43 p.m.
Warren said Dawn Harris has taken over bill-paying responsibilities.
Warren said autopsy costs will change for 2020 as the pathologist is retiring. He said he’s working with
the PA’s Office to draft a Request for Proposals (RFPs) for autopsies in 2020.
Warren said he also is working with the PA’s Office for decedent removal bids. He noted that removal
costs total roughly $40,000 annually.
Warren said he has not yet determined how much the raises he awarded will affect the $44,000
authorized in his budget. Warren said he may have to be on call to offset the costs.
Commissioner Stamper noted that the BOCC had been unaware of the raises Warren awarded.
Becky suggested Warren give updates on decedent removal costs and extra help costs monthly.
Warren noted that uniforms no longer can be deducted from personal taxes and that he therefore
would be including uniforms in his upcoming budget.
Meeting adjourned at 4:58 p.m.
