Commissioner Jackson said he has not yet had a chance to speak to Cemetery 9 applicant Susan
Otterness.
Commissioner Fund gave a brief update on the Office of the Chehalis Basin, including plans for culvert
replacements across the state, climate change effects on spring chinook and concerns about clams and
mussels.
Commissioner Stamper joined at 9:08 a.m.
Commissioner Stamper discussed the day’s Distressed Counties resolution regarding the rail spur. Becky
Butler noted that the resolution is for $800,000, which surpasses the $600,000 earmarked in the policy
governing the use of Distressed Counties funds. Peter Lahmann said the port is putting $1.2 million or so
toward the project. Erik Martin suggested the board review and possibly revise its policy regarding
Distressed Counties funding.
Commissioner Fund gave a legislative update on matters before the state Legislature. Erik noted that the
broadband bill would use monies that had been designated for Public Works infrastructure.
Commissioner Fund said it appears Lewis County will receive the courthouse grant funding for which it
applied.
The commissioners reviewed their calendars.
Commissioner Jackson left at 9:30 a.m.
Peter Lahmann discussed Pac Mountain’s work to combat opioid abuse.
The group discussed pop-up libraries and wi-fi hotspots.
