2019-07-08 Annual WCIF visitAnnual WCIF visit July 8, 2019 3:35 p.m. Present: Commissioner Jackson, Commissioner Stamper, Commissioner Fund, Jon Kaino, Larry Grove, Becky Butler (3:39 p.m.), County Manager Erik Martin (3:40 p.m.) Recorder: Rieva Lester Jon Kaino said Washington Counties Insurance Fund (WCIF) vacancies have been filled. He said premium reductions might be possible for 2020. Becky Butler joined at 3:39 p.m. Jon said work is being done on Premera’s rate tiers. Erik Martin joined at 3:40 p.m. Jon said the WCIF board will meet Aug. 9 to review renewals. The group discussed dental insurance. Jon discussed the state’s move to provide short-term disability coverage. He also discussed a bill that passed regarding long-term care. Commissioner Stamper left at 3:56 p.m. Jon said vision coverage is guaranteed for the next two years and EAP is guaranteed for four years. Jon encouraged the county to consider allowing employees access to WCIF’s hospital, accident and critical illness plans, which he said offer coverage offered by Aflac. He said the rates through WCIF are much lower. The group discussed wellness discounts the county could receive if groups participate. Jon reiterated that Premera renewals likely will reflect an increase of 2 percent increase or less but that renewals could even see a decrease. Jon said Kaiser rates likely will increase 8 percent to 12 percent. Meeting adjourned at 4:16 p.m.
