2018-01-02 BOCC WrapBOCC Wrap-Up January 2, 2018 3:14 p.m. Present: Commissioner Fund, Commissioner Jackson, Commissioner Stamper Guest: Justyna Tomtas Recorder: Rieva Lester Commissioner Fund said she has met with Moe Bremmer about the possibility of a work study arrangement. She said Daleyn Coleman also is working on it. The commissioners discussed hiring a county manager and then having that individual weigh in on the Risk manager position after Paulette Young leaves. Commissioner Fund said the Risk manager should be separate from the county manager position. Commissioner Stamper said his priority would be to hire a county manager. Commissioner Jackson discussed hiring a consultant. Commissioner Fund discussed the fact that the charter movement could have an effect on applicants for the county manager position. The commissioners said they would like to set up a time to meet with Tawni Shepherd. The commissioners discussed the merits of using a head-hunting firm to attract applicants. The commissioners said they would discuss minutes with HR. Commissioner Fund noted that the Sheriff’s Office also has limited information on minutes. Commissioner Fund said Becky Butler has said she can easily provide budget estimates for the BOCC. The commissioners discussed their calendars. Justyna Tomtas asked about the charter / freeholder process. The group discussed a Jan. 17 meeting at which the topic will be discussed.
