2018-04-11 Directors UpdateDirectors’ Update April 11, 2018 9:04 a.m. Present: Commissioner Fund, Commissioner Jackson, Commissioner Stamper, Steve Mansfield, Lee Napier, Erik Martin, Danette York, Tawni Shepherd, Steve Wohld, Becky Butler, Steve Walton, Archie Smith Guests: Linda Williams, Susan DeLaire Recorder: Rieva Lester Erik Martin discussed a proclamation to name April 16-22, 2018, as Earth Week in Lewis County. Steve Wohld discussed a resolution to authorize the Director of IT Services to execute a purchase order with Dell Inc., a state-approved computer equipment vendor. He said the life expectancy of computers is five years, yet IT was able to stretch them to seven years. He noted that the bulk purchase saves considerable money. He said the purchase is made through a state contract. Steve Wohld discussed a resolution to authorize the Director of IT Services to execute the renewal of an Enterprise Agreement with En Pointe, a Washington state contracted reseller for Microsoft Corporation licenses. He said the purchase is made through a state contract. Commissioner Fund discussed a resolution to approve .09 (“Distressed Counties”) funding for the Packwood sewer feasibility study. Commissioner Fund discussed a resolution to approve .09 (“Distressed Counties”) funding for EDC operations and implementation of strategic initiatives. She noted that Commissioner Stamper is the representative on the EDC. Lee Napier discussed a resolution to amend Resolution #17-354 by adopting a Category of Fees. Danette York discussed a resolution to authorize the initial placement of a causal employee on the Lewis County Salary grid above the extra help grade. Archie Smith said he would review the paperwork. Commissioner Jackson made a motion to move one (1) Proclamation, two (2) Consent items and six (6) Deliberation items to the Monday, April 16, 2018, BOCC agenda. Commissioner Stamper seconded the motion. Motion passed 3-0. Roundtable Steve Mansfield said a budget committee for the ILA user groups will meet April 16. Lee Napier discussed work with fire commissioners regarding a form for weighing in about road standards. Erik Martin said he has identified finalists for vacant positions. Danette York noted that Meja Handlen has been promoted to Community Health Services & Contracts Coordinator and that Health is accepting applications for Meja’s previous position. Danette also discussed the need for a social media policy. The group discussed the need for guidelines, etc. regarding social media. Commissioner Jackson left at 9:35 a.m. and returned at 9:36 a.m. The group continued discussing social media. Commissioner Stamper left at 9:43 a.m. Steve Wohld discussed IT’s upcoming cybersecurity assessments and training. He discussed a vacancy in his department as well as an upcoming career fair. Becky Butler noted a minor change regarding budget amendments. She said all-day budget meetings will be held Sept. 13, Sept. 27 and Oct. 3. Steve Walton said the cold weather shelter has wrapped up. He said the fairgrounds annexation request is moving forward. Archie Smith said Leadership Academy is going well. He said the BOCC has made a job offer for the Risk Manager position. Rieva Lester said IT is working on revamping Packetwriter. Meeting ended at 9:59 a.m.
