Eric Eisenberg said Nicholas Bozarth called in to question the
constitutionality of the county’s set filing fees. Eric said there
must be a way for someone who is indigent to get on the
ballot. Eric suggested allowing someone who lacks the means
to pay the filing fee could be allowed to sign a declaration
indicating that they cannot afford the filing fee and allowing
them to pay what they feel they can.
Eric suggested passing a resolution to clarify what happens if
someone comes in and cannot pay the filing fee.
Commissioner Stamper made a motion to add a freeholder
resolution to the Monday, April 16, 2018, BOCC Business Meeting. Commissioner Fund seconded.
Motion passed 2-0.
The group discussed the FAQs on the Auditor’s Office website.
