Dan Kay discussed an email he received from Larry Boehm of TDS regarding easements. Allen Unzelman
said the political issue is broadband deployment. He said the PUD is all for broadband deployment and
that he’s fearful TDS is going to accuse the PUD of standing in the way. He said TDS is casting aside the
private property rights part of it. He said the PUD is bound by agreements the PUD signed with the
property owners, which detail for what the easements will be used. He said outside entities want to use
those easements, too, but that those entities were not included in the original agreements.
Dan discussed the cost for pole contacts.
Dan discussed the upcoming CERB workshop regarding rural broadband.
Erik Martin left at 3:19 p.m.
Dan discussed the PUD’s hesitation to pursue grants, the Kitsap bill regarding LIDs and the PUD’s lack of
retail authority.
