2018-06-18 Update with PAUpdate with PA’s Office June 18, 2018 1:33 p.m. Present: Commissioner Fund, Commissioner Jackson, Commissioner Stamper, Becky Butler, Ross Petersen, Sara Wibowo, Erik Martin, Eric Eisenberg, Jonathan Meyer Recorder: Rieva Lester Sara Wibowo introduced herself. Jonathan Meyer discussed staffing. He discussed having a full-time position work part time to fill two positions. Eric Eisenberg discussed solid waste’s dispute with the City of Centralia regarding host fees and the possibility of using mediation. He discussed the need for a back-up, long-term plan. Erik Martin discussed the need to address possible future growth. Ross Petersen discussed easements on North and South Prairie Roads. For taxation purposes, he said, the easement widths appear to vary along the roads. The group discussed calculating taxation on the easement areas. Ross said he would speak with Dianne Dorey about the easement areas then check in with Commissioner Stamper. Ross said he has drafted a transportation resolution. Jonathan discussed a possible fee agreement with Napoli Shkolnik for opioid litigation. He said the entity would assume all fees and costs except regarding travel. He said litigation will take place in Ohio. He said the entity would charge 25 percent (after costs) unless there was a class-action settlement, which would lead to a 25 percent cut plus attorneys’ fees. He said he would appoint them as a special deputy if the BOCC so approved. Eric Eisenberg said the county would need to produce data for the lawsuit. Commissioner Stamper made a motion to move forward with Napoli Shkolnik regarding the opioid litigation and to allow Commissioner Fund to approve the fee agreement. Commissioner Jackson seconded the motion. Motion passed 3-0. At 2:35 p.m., Commissioner Fund announced that the Board was going into Executive Session under RCW 42.30.110(1)(i) for 20 minutes to discuss pending and potential litigation. Executive Session ended at 2:55 p.m. Meeting adjourned at 2:56 p.m.
