2018-07-16 BOCC Wrap-UpWrap-Up Meeting July 16, 2018 9:03 a.m. Present: Commissioner Fund, Commissioner Jackson, Commissioner Stamper, Erik Martin (9:27 a.m.), Judge Samuelson (9:48 a.m.) Guest: Alex Brown of The Chronicle Recorder: Rieva Lester Commissioner Fund said the state plans to hold a workshop with the local Behavioral Health Organization (BHO) board. Commissioner Jackson left at 9:13 a.m. Commissioner Fund said the Office of the Chehalis Basin will meet later in the day to discuss the EIS with the Corps. Commissioner Jackson said he plans to follow up with Uri Papish of Southwest Clean Air Agency. Erik Martin joined at 9:27 a.m. Commissioner Jackson made a motion to pay J. Vander Stoep for 2018 flood advocacy through the EDC. Commissioner Stamper seconded. Erik said J. Vander Stoep serves on the Governor’s Work Group on the Chehalis River Basin and is the alternate for the town of Pe Ell on the Chehalis Basin Flood Authority. With his previous experience as a legislator, chief of staff for a U.S. Senator, a lawyer in current practice, and a lifelong resident of Lewis County, Erik said, J. has the history, credentials and the knowledge to navigate the advocacy road for future flood mitigation efforts for Lewis County. No one in this area can replicate his contact and expertise, Erik said. “We feel honored that he is willing to serve us in this capacity,” he said. Motion passed 3-0. Erik Martin discussed work on Jones Road. He said Mr. Jones does not want the work performed. He said he would further discuss the planned project with Mr. Jones. Judge Samuelson joined at 9:48 a.m. Commissioner Stamper left at 9:51 a.m. Meeting ended at 9:55 a.m.
