Susie Parker outlined Superior court’s request for an additional $2,192 to increase the court
commissioner’s salary to match that of the judges’ salaries.
Susie said the Legislature has put into place rules and regulations that make assigning and collecting
fines more difficult.
Commissioner Stamper left at 1:41 p.m.
Susie discussed staffing related to the involuntary treatment act (ITA).
Commissioner Stamper returned at 1:42 p.m.
Susie said the Behavioral Health Organization reimburses the county for its court costs related to the
ITAs.
Becky Butler discussed the mental health tax, which is used to fund Drug Court, Family Recovery Court
and other programs.
Robert Berg asked how the state divvies up indigent defense funding. Becky said Lewis County receives
$89,000 for the Defender of the Day, plus fines gathered from convicts. Susie said she believes the
reimbursements are divvied up based on population.
