Becky Butler outlined the tax refunds form.
Rieva Lester presented the proposed holiday closure calendar. The commissioners approved the list of
holiday closures.
Commissioner Stamper discussed the Cowlitz River Project. He said Tacoma Power is going to close
roughly 50 acres in the Kosmos Flats area, specifically the Rainy Creek, in response to solidified oil that
was found.
The commissioners reviewed who would speak to various topics during the upcoming budget
informational meeting.
Becky Butler discussed the Lewis County Seniors . The commissioners approved providing $50,000 for
the Lewis County Seniors. The commissioners said they would consider releasing the remaining $50,000
after the Lewis County Seniors provide to the county the following:
• Full financial picture of the Lewis County Seniors group, including profits from the thrift store.
• A preliminary budget.
• Plans for marketing and grants in the future.
• A breakout of 2020 contribution requests made to the surrounding cities.
Commissioner Jackson suggested asking the Seniors Board to allow county representation on the board,
even if it’s just in a non-voting position, just so there would be some guidance about how to move
forward as an independent body.
The group noted that the Seniors have a five-year lease on the buildings they’re in.
Steve Wohld said there had been 26,000 searches on the Parcels site so far in November, of which
roughly 20 percent were searches performed by name.
Steve left at 5:01 p.m.
The group expressed concerns about ongoing and compounding costs related to the aging senior center
buildings.
Meeting adjourned at 5:09 p.m.
