Erik Martin and Becky Butler outlined three funding options for the Commercial Vehicle Officer (CVO)
position:
• OPTION 1:
Road Fund: $1,609,508 (entire amount, including the estimated $45,000 in one-time costs)
General Fund: $0
• OPTION 2:
Road Fund: $1,448,831
General Fund: $160,677 (including the $45,000 in one-time costs)
• OPTION 3:
Road Fund: $1,493,831 (including the $45,000 in one-time costs
General Fund: $115,677.
The group discussed Roads funding and the CVO position.
Commissioner Jackson, Commissioner Stamper and Commissioner Fund approved Option 3: Use the
Road Fund to cover $1,493,831 (including the $45,000 in one-time costs) and use the General Fund for
the remaining $115,677.
Sheriff Snaza said he has an individual in mind for the CVO position. He said he would like to have the
individual work with the state patrol in commercial vehicle enforcement and then attend classes after
summer 2020.
Sheriff Snaza, Josh Metcalf and Chief Kimsey left at 11:36 a.m.
JP Anderson discussed Public Health’s request for an additional funding totaling $14,567 to increase the
county’s contract with the county’s health officer, Dr. Rachel Wood.
Commissioner Jackson, Commissioner Stamper and Commissioner Fund approved Public Health’s
request for an additional $14,567 to increase the county’s contract with Dr. Wood. JP Anderson and
Becky Butler noted that the county’s 2020 contract with Dr. Wood would total $62,000, including
training.
Commissioner Jackson, Commissioner Stamper and Commissioner Fund denied Health’s request for
additional funding to increase a .60 position to a full-time position.
JP left at 11:50 a.m.
Becky recapped the previous day’s discussion and decision regarding 2020 funding for the Lewis County
Seniors group.
Becky noted that the $24,000 the commissioners approved for Juvenile covered increases for Shad Hail
and Rickie Anders. The commissioners said they were fine with that.
The commissioners deferred a decision on the jail transport vehicle until the next budget cycle. They
said they’d like to work with Fleet to develop a replacement plan.
The commissioners denied a request for two additional jail corrections staff members. They said they’d
like the Sheriff’s Office to provide updates on Corrections, the jail transport vehicle and the CVO during
its monthly meetings with the commissioners.
