2019-11-25 Code Enforcement MeetingCode Enforcement Meeting November 25, 2019 2:30 p.m. Present: Commissioner Jackson, Commissioner Stamper, Commissioner Fund (2:33 p.m. by phone), County Manager Erik Martin, JP Anderson, John Abplanalp Guests: Bob Guenther, Dr. Lindsey Pollock, Gary Fox Recorder: Rieva Lester JP Anderson outlined Code Enforcement’s response to a proposal to delist biosolids from Kalama Chemical and Fire Mountain Farms from hazardous to non-hazardous. He said he wants to know what the tests show and who performed the tests. Commissioner Stamper said the county needs to know what will be done with the waste, noting that the county doesn’t want it in our landfill. Bob Guenther said 20,000 cubic yards of waste is to be disposed. John Abplanalp said the exemption would be for materials already here. He said Ecology has noted that the waste would need to go to a landfill if it is delisted. Bob said this batch has been in Lewis County for four years. He said the farm had been spraying the materials on farm lands for 19 years. JP said he will begin overseeing Social Services beginning in December. He said Ed Mund will return to his role as PIO and emergency preparedness planner. He said John Abplanalp will oversee Code Enforcement’s work. Commissioner Fund joined in person at 2:52 p.m. JP and Commissioner Fund discussed follow-up meetings and discussions with representatives from Gov. Inslee’s office. Meeting ended at 2:57 p.m.
