Matt Matayoshi indicated the following have been recommended for approval as appointees on the .09
committee:
• Mark Anders, Port of Chehalis
• Sue Luond, City of Centralia
• Dennis Dawes, City of Chehalis
• Edna J. Fund, Lewis County
• Buck Hubbert, Industrial Commission
• Dan Mortensen, Small Cities
• Dan Rich, Committee Chair
Matt noted that the commissioners will need to make appointments in time for the group’s March 13
meeting.
Becky Butler joined at 1:21 p.m.
Becky said the county has roughly $4.1 million in Distressed Counties (.09) funding, with $1 million set
aside for reserves. Of that, she said, roughly $2 million is obligated.
Matt discussed efforts to secure funding for Mickelsen Parkway. He said the state has indicated it is not
moving forward with funding it had earmarked for the project in response to funds held up by Initiative
976.
Matt said Benaroya continues to field interest from parties possibly interested in becoming tenants at its
Winlock property.
Matt discussed firms considering a move to Washington.
Matt said a Smart Tank event is planned for 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. March 6.
Matt said the annual banquet is planned for Feb. 20.
Matt suggested taking over permitting for Winlock’s urban growth area. Erik said he will reach out to the
city.
Matt noted that Winlock is operating without its Community Development team and an attorney.
Matt discussed a recent flood event that affected Cascade, Shelton Structures, National, Cardinal Glass
and others. Matt said that prompted talk of the need to replace culverts in Flood District 1.
Matt said the waterways are not fish-bearing streams.
Commissioner Stamper said he will attend the East Lewis County PDA later in the week.
Becky Butler said she would look into whether brokerage fees could be paid as related to the ELCPDA.
Commissioner Jackson left at 1:54 p.m.
