2020-02-18 Update with HRUpdate with HR February 18, 2020 1:02 p.m. Present: Commissioner Fund, Commissioner Jackson, Daleyn Coleman, Steve Walton, Scott Smitherman, Becky Butler, Commissioner Stamper (1:34 p.m., by phone) Guest: Frank Corbin Recorder: Rieva Lester Steve Walton said the county has received only three applications for the radio tech position, which is listed at a Grade 19. He said the position has been open for months. Daleyn Coleman reviewed comparable salaries for the position. She said Lewis County starts at $10,000 less than those comparable counties. She said moving that position to a 24 would make it comparable. The group discussed compression concerns, noting that the next position remains two steps higher. Scott Smitherman said the county’s lone radio tech is on call 24/7 and must stay within a 2-hour drive. Commissioner Fund and Commissioner Jackson said they approve reclassifying the position from a 19 to a 24. At 1:14 p.m., Commissioner Fund recessed the meeting until 1:30 p.m. The meeting resumed at 1:34 p.m. with Commissioner Stamper, Commissioner Fund, Commissioner Jackson, Daleyn Coleman, Steve Walton and Scott Smitherman present and guest Frank Corbin in attendance. Steve recapped the earlier discussion for Commissioner Stamper. He reiterated that there would be no compression issues. Commissioner Stamper arrived in person at 1:42 p.m. Commissioner Stamper said he too approves the reclassification. Meeting ended at 1:45 p.m.
