Present: Commissioner Jackson, Commissioner Stamper, Commissioner Edna J. Fund, John Roe, Josh
Metcalf, David Fleckenstein, Becky Butler, and Erik Martin
Guest: Frank Corbin
Recorder: Candace Hallom
David Fleckenstein introduced himself and stated during the previous legislative session, legislation
formed a commission to identify a location for a new primary commercial aviation facility in Washington
State. David discussed what the Commercial Aviation Coordination Commission (CACC) is doing. He also
went over a PowerPoint presentation explaining the environmental, economic, social, and public
impacts.
David then discussed the CACC’s plan for public input.
Commissioner Jackson asked if it was a possibility for the CACC to recommend a regional hub.
David feels that the CACC is looking more at a national airport.
John Roe discussed the Toledo Airport and gave a description of the land.
Commissioner Stamper stated that it might not turn into anything but it is worth looking into.
Josh Metcalf asked David to provide an idea of public outreach.
David said it will depend on funding but the CACC has started some outreach. They will be putting out a
press release. As they get further into the project, that is where the public outreach will get ramped up.
Commissioner Jackson agreed that he would like the Toledo Airport to be considered.
David stated one piece to be considered is the process. It goes to the Legislators, then to the FAA who
has to do their own analysis.
David discussed possibility of FAA funding.
David left the meeting at 3:51 pm.
John discussed an issue at the Packwood airport in which someone damaged the fish and wildlife
helicopter.
Commissioner Fund discussed what she heard at previous meetings regarding the possibility of a cargo
facility at the Toledo Airport. She stated when they looked into it previously it was a very contentious
meeting.
Meeting ended at 4:10 pm.
