Becky Butler said she had sent to the commissioners for their review a draft letter asking for local
control regarding the COVID-19 response. She said she would ask area mayors if they would like their
names added to the letter.
Becky said Lewis County has spent roughly $300,000 so far on its COVID-19 response.
Becky said FEMA has outlined some of its reimbursement requirements and that the county has learned
that FEMA will not reimburse for laptops purchased in response.
Becky said Lewis County is not eligible for CARES relief funds because of its population. She said
available reimbursements will be for the county’s COVID-19 response only, not to offset lost revenues.
Becky said she and the other members of the financial impact group are developing optimistic,
pessimistic and “expected” projections for revenue. She said the March sales tax revenue losses will be
known in May.
Becky discussed Payments in Lieu of Taxes and unemployment statistics.
