Becky Butler discussed using Coronavirus Relief funds for broadband.
Larry McGee said Breeze’s proposal is a bargain for providing internet service.
Pete Crosby said his company would roll out service to area sites then reach out to locals and then
expand, providing 300 line of site and non-line-of-site connections immediately, with plans to expand
that service to 900.
If the board were to approve funding the project, Becky said, the project would go out to bid on the
Small Works roster.
The commissioners directed Becky and Steve Wohld to move forward with the project.
Becky outlined Treasury’s new guidance on how governmental entities can charge public safety and
public health salaries to the coronavirus Relief Funding.
Becky asked if the BOCC would consider reallocating its funding.
Larry McGee said the team reviewing business applications for grant funding will meet the following day
and intend to determine how to best allocate the coronavirus funding. The commissioners said they
would like to meet with the EDC in the next few weeks to review the allocations.
Becky asked the commissioners to review the 2021 Budget call letter.
The commissioners said they would like to hold individual budget meetings as they had in the past. She
discussed a hybrid in-person / remote plan for the Citizens Budget Committee.
Erik said Strategic Planning work continues.
Becky discussed the Treasurer’s June year-to-date overview. She urged caution regarding lost revenues.
