Appoint Kevin Ryan to the Civil Service Commission BEFORE THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
LEWIS COUNTY, WASHINGTON
IN THE MATTER OF: RESOLUTION NO. 22-010
APPOINT KEVIN RYAN TO THE CIVIL SERVICE
COMMISSION
WHEREAS, Lewis County has a Civil Service Commission as outlined in RCW
41.14; and
WHEREAS, Joe Mano, who was reappointed to his position on the Civil Service
Commission via Resolution 16-051 on Feb. 8, 2016, has indicated he does not
wish to be reappointed to the board after the December 31, 2021, expiration of
his term; and
WHEREAS, Kevin Ryan of Chehalis has expressed an interest and a willingness to
serve on the Civil Service Commission; and
WHEREAS, RCW 41.14 prescribes that members serve six-year staggered terms;
and
WHEREAS, setbacks in the appointment process over the years have disrupted
the six-year, staggered terms required as per RCW 41.14; and
WHEREAS, the other two seats are occupied by Pat Sauter, whose term extends
through December 31, 2022, as per Resolution 17-022; and Bill Cavinder, whose
term extends through December 31, 2026, as per Resolution 21-466; and
WHEREAS, the Lewis County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) wishes to
appoint Joe Mano's successor and re-establish the staggered terms required by
RCW 41.14.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the BOCC hereby appoints Kevin Ryan
to the Civil Service Commission effective for a term expiring December 31, 2024.
