2021-12-21 PA UpdatePA Update December 21, 2021 2:01 p.m. Present: Commissioner Stamper, Commissioner Pollock, Commissioner Swope, County Manager Erik Martin, Andrew Logerwell, Kevin McDowell, Eric Eisenberg, Chris Panush, Austin Majors, Brittani Bonahoom, Lara McRea, Tiffanie Morgan Guest: Eric Rosane Recorder: Rieva Lester Housing study update Eric Eisenberg said he’d like the commissioners to re-envision the housing effort away from an information-gathering housing study approach to a housing initiative approach as it grapples with the local housing crisis. Eric identified the following as actions the county can start taking now: • Expand residential diversity • Partner with cities to help them expand their residential diversity • Help establish a night-by-night shelter • Help establish a step-up facility • Help ensure residential capacity can be used • Pre-vet regulatory materials • Enhance access public infrastructure • Increase services to rural areas • Keep the topic in the media and in front of the public Commissioner Pollock, Commissioner Swope and Commissioner Grose said they support the move toward more of an action effort instead of a study effort. Commissioner Grose noted he’d like to see an inventory list of sites already available for a shelter. Executive session At 2:28 p.m., Commissioner Pollock announced that the Board would be going into Executive Session under RCW 42.30.110(1)(i) for 15 minutes to discuss the following. • Animal shelter case(s). • Northern Spotted Owl update. • Sixth Circuit decision to lift stay of Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS) on COVID-19 vaccines. Executive session started at 3:30 p.m. At 3:45 p.m., the Board extended Executive Session for 5 minutes. At 3:50 p.m., the Board extended Executive Session for 3 minutes. At 3:53 p.m., the Board extended Executive Session for 3 minutes. At 3:56 p.m., the Board extended Executive Session for 1 minute. Executive Session ended at 3:57 p.m. Commissioner Pollock noted that no decisions had been made. Meeting adjourned at 3:58 p.m.
