Rieva Lester reviewed the timeline for the redistricting process:
• Nov. 15: State’s deadline for its changes to the legislative boundaries.
• Nov. 16-23: GIS will use state’s legislative boundaries to finalize local boundaries.
• Nov. 24: GIS will update the commissioners during the Directors’ Update.
• Nov. 30: Notice of hearing resolution goes before the BOCC.
• Dec. 14: First hearing for redistricting.
• Dec. 21: Second hearing for redistricting.
• Dec. 28: BOCC to adopt new boundaries (if tabled Dec. 21).
Matt Hyatt and Gary Hurley said they are working on map options and will update their proposals as
soon as the state redistricting committee finalizes Washington’s legislative boundaries. They noted that
redistricting is required every 10 years to reflect changes captured in the Census.
