2022-09-12 County Manager UpdateCounty Manager Update September 12, 2022 10:04 a.m. Present: Commissioner Pollock, Commissioner Swope, Commissioner Grose, County Manager Erik Martin, Meja Handlen, Nic Scott, Lara McRea, Amber Smith, Doug Carey, Eric Eisenberg, Lee Napier, Matt Jaeger, Linda Mastin, Daleyn Coleman, Becky Butler Guest(s): None Recorder: Tammy Martin Public comment: None. Law & Justice security contract: Erik Martin said purpose of the security contract is to provide a presence of security for Superior Court. Phoenix Security’s contract expires in June of 2023. Phoenix is asking for a 9% rate increase with the next contract. Erik asked for the Board’s consideration to have armed or unarmed security. Erik said there are other instances security is needed and that he will be looking for a quote to encompass different types of availability. Long-Range Strategic Planning: Erik said a compilation of the three planning sessions was sent to the Commissioners. He is looking to formalize the long-range plan with Tanner based on any further recommendations from the Board. Budget: Becky Butler said she is working to finalize budgets. ARPA Funding: Becky is waiting for contract updates from the Fox Theatre and the City of Napavine. Personnel: Commissioner Swope said the positions being requested by Public Works all have funding sources available from surplus funds. He said he recommends the hiring of staff to fill those positions. Erik suggested placing the positions needed on the Directors’ Update for a formal resolution. Commissioner Swope made a motion to approve a pay adjustment for the Clerk of the Board position per the attached memo provided. Commissioner Grose seconded. Motion passed 3-0. Commissioner Swope said there will be a webinar on the Skookumchuck Dam on Sept. 28,, 2022. Meeting adjourned at 10:26 a.m.
